  • ResumeIoannis A. Ziogas is a 6th-year Medical Student, anticipated to graduate with “Summa cum laude” from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki School of Medicine, Greece. After completing the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 1, as part of his clinical training he completed with Honors 6 sub-internships: Pediatric Infectious Diseases at University of North Carolina Children’s Hospital, Pediatric Surgery at New York Presbyterian/Weil Cornell Medical Center and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Liver Cancer & Transplant Surgery at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and Cleveland Clinic and General Surgery & Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Mayo Clinic. His research interests mainly focus on General Surgery, especially Pediatric, Transplant and Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) Surgery. Up until now, his scientific work has yielded several peer-reviewed publications, chapter contributions to medical textbooks as well as presentations in national and international meetings. After graduating from Medical School (07/2019), he will pursue a 2-year Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in HPB/Liver Transplant Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. In the meantime, he has contributed to several projects of the SJD Pediatrics and Surgery Working Groups since 2015 and he currently serves as the Vice President of the Board.
