- ResumeDimitrios Giannakidis MD, MSc, PhD(c) graduated from the Medical School of the University of Sofia, to which he was admitted after exams, with honors, in December 2016 and at the same time he completed a master's degree in Healthcare Management while he was working as a Cardiovascular Nurse in an Intensive Care Unit performing and coordinator duties. He is currently working as a 6th year General Surgery Resident and during his residency he has exhibited broad research interest participating in numerous scientific papers as a co-author in a wide range of Medical Science. He has a recent master's degree in colorectal surgery. His scientific work includes 48 publications in international peer-reviewed medical journals with an h-index:12, i10-index:14 and more than 370 references to scientific articles by other authors. He has presented studies and scientifically interesting cases in >20 national and international conferences and has participated in >20 practical and theoretical training courses. He is a Ph.D. candidate at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in the Department of Medicine studying the role of antioxidants in intestinal ischemic reperfusion injury and their effect on the intestinal anastomoses. Furthermore, he is a master's student in one program with main subject of endocrine gland surgery. He has been a member of the Society of Junior Doctors (More than 100 published papers mainly with secondary data - systematic reviews meta-analyses) since August 2022 and has been coordinating the Organizing Committee (OC) of Communication & Openness since October of the same year. His interests include, acting in theatrical roles, photography, sports and pets. He is participating as a volunteer in non-governmental and non-profit organizations including Doctors of the World (Médecins du Monde) that provides medical assistance to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, or exclusion from healthcare and Arctouros with aim to protect wildlife and the natural environment in Greece and abroad.
